RCD presents 7th International Wheelchair Bonspiel - 2013 Canadian Open

6th Annual International Wheelchair Curling Bonspiel - 2012 Canadian Open

RCD presents 7th International Wheelchair Bonspiel - 2013 Canadian Open
October 23 to 26, 2013

From October 23 to 26, 2013 the RCD will be hosting its 7th annual wheelchair curling bonspiel tournament – 2013 Canadian Open.

Wheelchair curling tournaments have been staged at the Paralympics since the Winter Paralympic Games in 2006 in Turin. The 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia will be held from March 7 to 16, 2014.  So far, Canada has been the most successful team in the Paralympics, winning twice of the gold medals. In fact, Canada won its third World Wheelchair Curling Championship title in February 2013 at the Ice Cube Curling Center, venue for the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi.

In 2012, the RCD International Bonspiel saw the keen competition of 6 teams, we hope to have the participation of more teams, with high caliber athletes and increased international presence as the Sochi Paralympics are just round the corner. The RCD strives to make this event nationally and internationally acclaimed and hope to attract quality competitors worldwide and bring the global stage to Richmond.
