Organiser Andy Cameron said the event was the best ever.
With teams from all over Scotland and two young junior teams from the Moray Junior Curling club, the event was keenly contested.

Moray Province curlers Gregor Ewan and Jim Gault, who won bronze medals with Team GB at the Winter Paralympics in Sochi, were also competing.

Said Andy: “The whole idea I had about starting the Moray International Bonspiel in 2009 was to bring international curlers and teams to Moray to let their hair down at the end of the season at a social curling event.

“The atmosphere we had over the weekend was second to none with all teams mixing and getting into the great curling spirit. It was great to see so many people just walking in to watch the curling and interacting with all the teams.”

He thanked the sponsors for ensuring the continued success of the event – Ronald Christie from Christies Garden Centre, Brian Yeats at McKerron and Milne Ltd and also Walkers Shortbread, Glen Grant Distillery, Spey Valley Brewery and Highland Spirit.

Laichmoray Hotel also provided help with a dinner for competitors and accommodation.
Proceeds from a raffle went to the Ladybird Group in Lossiemouth, established in 1985 by the late Dr Iain White and his wife Ann, who recognised the need for a provision to care for pre-school children who required additional support in their development.

The centre is managed by a voluntary committee and is registered as a charity in Scotland. There are currently 14 children attending and the centre can care for up to six children at any one time offering a high level of support, mainly on a one adult to one child ratio.

The curling itself saw two different prizes up for grabs with the Low Road Winners being the team of Steve McGingle, Amy MacDonald, Eilidh Yeats and Brian Yeats.

The High Road winners were Alan Manuel, Kenny Oswald, Robert Bremner and Joan Reed.
