This event is the first World Wheelchair Curling Championship to be held in the Pacific-Asia region and we hope it will be a catalyst for many more international curling events in this part of the world. In many ways it is recognition of the growing achievements of the Korean Wheelchair curlers on the international stage, having continued to impress following their silver medal at the 2010 Winter Paralympic Games in Vancouver.
Their success is testament to the amount of enthusiasm and dedication that the Korean Wheelchair Curling Association has put into the sport. We are confident that interest will continue to grow throughout the Pacific-Asia region as the nation prepares to host the 2018 Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang.
We thank our Korean colleagues and partners for the tremendous support they have provided to ensure that this International Curling Event is successful and look forward to their hospitality throughout the event.
We would like to wish all athletes good luck and good curling at the World Wheelchair Curling Championships 2012
