Norway annouces Team for World Championship

Team Norway has announced their team for the World Championships being held at the Uiam Ice Rink, Chuncheon City, Gangwon Province, South Korea.

The team is comprised of 2 time World Champions Rune Lorentsen and Jostein Stordahl along with a few new faces for Norway. Back at the helm as coach is long time Norwegian coach Thoralf Hognestad.

As relayed to me by Thoralf; “Our goal is the page playoffs as always, and I believe we also this year can do it.”

The World championships is being held in Korea for the first time and with a look at history this is the first time that the World Championship is being held outside either Canada or Europe, a great sign of the growth of the sport world wide.

The event is for ten mixed gender teams: one from the host Association, seven qualify directly from the previous World Wheelchair Curling Championship (WWhCC) and two from the World Wheelchair Curling Qualification.
At the WWhCC, teams gain qualification points for the Paralympic Winter Games. The next games will take place in Sochi, Russia in 2014.
