The Ottawa Valley Curling Association (OVCA) annual mixed bonspiel begins tomorrow Thursday, January 19 and runs through till Sunday January 22..

Team Cameron and Team Fraser; curling out of the RA Curling Club, are the only two wheelchair teams entered in the seven team recreational division. Each team in this division plays four games and wins/loses/points will determine who advances to Sundays finals. Team Cameron is the returning champion of this division.

Team Cameron was asked by the committee to compete in the Open division this year however the logistics of trying to schedule all their games at the RA Curling Club, which is the only TRULY accessible club in the Ottawa area, was too difficult. In fairness to the Ottawa Curling Club which is accessible, less a ramp to get on the ice, and ease of parking. including them for some of our games was not a viable option.

Both teams are using this as a "tune up" prior to the Ontario Provincials which take place the week of January. Team Cameron lead Christine Lavallee, who is also a competitive sailor,  has returned from Florida for this competition after training and competing in a regatta. Christine, with Katie Paialunga "in toe" will once again be heading to Florida on the 22nd, where they will compete in a regatta, returning in time for the Ontario provincials.
