Day 3 Draw 5 - Three fighting for their first win


After two full days of curling, Alberta and defending champion, Manitoba, remain as the leaders of the pack but the pack is beginning to thin out. In this draw we're interested to see whether Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia can win to move into the top half of the standings and whether Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and the Host team can get their first win.

End Notes:

End 1- Levesque raised his rock to remove Bender's and take one

End 2- A series of hits left an empty house for the blank

End 3- With NO lying 3, Bender tried a draw and then a hit and roll but when neither worked NO came away with a steal of 3
End 4- A perfect draw to just bite the button by Levesque to steal one

End 5- A lovely draw by Bender gave SK one point

End 6- Two angle raises by Bender to put rocks behind guards gave them the deuce


End 7 -  SK put three rocks near the center line in the house but Levesque had to throw the right weight to sit one
End 8 -  Levesque had a wide open draw for two and the win

End Notes:

End 1 - A nice draw for one by Newfoundland


End 2 - NFLD was lying two but BC drew in for the single


End 3 -NFLD got under cover and BC couldn't remove it


End 4-  Austgarden left his draw a bit light but still managed to take one with a rock back four



End 5-  Labounty made a nice hit and roll to the button covered and added another for the steal of 2


End 6- BC got 3 rocks behind a pair of NFLD guards and they couldn't be removed



End 7 -BC had two rocks covered near the 4 foot and MacDonald came up light on her draw. The teams shook

End Notes:

End 1- 
Quebec was lying 3 but AB managed to take two out


End 2- A protected rock for a steal of one


End 3- After a series of good shots, Quebec ended up stealing another


End 4-  AB managed a nice draw

End 5- A hit and roll by Yisek went too far and was open for the removal which occurred thus leaving QC with the pair


End 6- Quebec got two rocks in the house and they were protected with guards from both teams



End 7 - It was AB's turn to get rocks covered and counting 

End 8 - Quebec ran AB out of rocks and they shook

End 1- With ON lying 2, Thiessen took one out


End 2- AB drew in behind guards for a single


End 3- With several rocks in play Ideson made a nice draw for one


End 4- A well guarded rock could not be removed by Manitoba resulting in the steal


End 5- This was a repeat of the previous end with ON stealing a point on a well guarded rock


End 6- For the 4th end in a row a well placed rock by ON remained after all rocks had been thrown

End 7 - ON scattered three rocks around the house and Manitoba could not remove them. Manitoba conceded

End Notes:

End 1- Host was lying one but NS took it out and stuck for their single


End 2- An attempt by Host at a take out missed and left the steal of one


End 3- Host finally got on the board with a nice draw


End 4- After several rocks came up light and plugged the front of the house, NS managed a raise to count one and cede the hammer


End 5- A well thrown rock by Host for one


End 6- With most of the rocks in front of the house and only 2 rocks (one for each team) a measure showed a steal of one by the Host team

End 7 -This end Host got two rocks covered by the many guards in front of the house and stole another pair

End 8 - After 5 rocks were thrown up short of the house Host put one in but at the back of the house. Several attempts to draw in shorter than the counter missed leaving Host with a steal of one and the win
