The National Capital Wheelchair Curling
Club is hosting the 8 th Annual Cathy Kerr Wheelchair Curling Memorial Bonspiel
tournaments from November 29, to December 2, 2012. This is the largest
wheelchair curling Bonspiel in the world with 16 competitive teams coming from
as far as Scotland, the US and all across Canada.
The tournament will begin at the Sportplex at
1701 Woodroffe on Thursday the 29 the and will then switch to RA Centre 2451
Riverside Dr for the remainder of the tournament. There is a recreational division that will
start play on the Friday morning with 4 teams
bringing the total to 20 teams competing in this event. The tournament will wrap up on Sunday
afternoon at 2
o’clock.

Kerr saw the altruistic spirit of the game of curling as one where competition
between people with disabilities and able bodied persons on an equal basis
could truly be applied. `Capital
Wheelchair Curling is one of the legacies that will live eternally as a tribute
and honored the life of Cathy Kerr.
